Mandatory Update: Security Update 2008-005

2 08 2008

Apple has released their new Security Update 2008-005. This update should be installed as soon as possible as this security update patches some vulnerabilities (especially a DNS/BIND server vulnerability) where an attacker could cause a Mac OS X DNS server to direct users to forged websites.

This means instead of accessing a website you want to go to, an attacker could take advantage of this DNS/BIND vulnerability and direct you to a fake website where there is a chance you would enter personal information, thus giving away your information to attackers.

This update is available via Software Update.

The Mojave Experiment

30 07 2008

Microsoft has begun their campaign against Macs with the Mojave experiment.

The Mojave experience involves people being interviewed on what they think of Windows Vista. All these people who were interviewed started off with negative comments. Then the interviewer would show the participants Microsoft’s new operating system “Mojave” which was really still Vista. The participant’s actions were caught on a hidden camera.

After being filmed they were told that they were actually using Vista. Surprisingly, the participants walked away with a positive view of Vista.

27 07 2008

Multi-iPhone households have likely already been thrust into the dilemma of whether or not to purchase their favorite iPhone applications multiple times for multiple iPhones in their possession (but synced to multiple iTunes libraries, as in a family situation).
